The first season was produced by Desilu studios. Although Paramount produced the rest, so if anyone has the rights it would be them. It may be that the first season has fallen into PD, but it's certain that the rest are owned by Paramount.

No copyrights on any episodes have expired. All U.S. movies and shows released after 1963 had their copyrights automatically renewed. Movies like Night of the Living Dead are p.d. only because they were released without copyright notices.

It may be that just the first 2 episodes of Mannix are p.d. simply because they lacked copyright notices, not because of failure to renew the copyrights after 28 years (renewal was unnecessary).

I doubt that the entire first season lacks copyright notices, but someone needs to check his copies of the first 3 or 4 episodes.

You could almost say the first and possibly the second season of Mission: Impossible are in the same area.

If the episodes as aired originally had valid copyright notices, then they are not p.d. Their copyrights cannot have expired.

Until this issue is settled, I will not put them up.

Does your copy of season 1, episode 2 have a copyright notice?

Does your copy of season 1, episode 3 have a copyright notice?

I have only episodes 1 & 2, and I have checked the opening and closing credits for copyright notices.

Why is nobody else willing to check his copies of episodes 2 & 3 for a copyright notice?

You can check for a copyright notice without uploading the episode, can't you?

I could and did it says at the end credits with the desilu logo and music 1967 on both. The thing that annoys me the most is after putting it up, the IA "police" come by and say it's in voliation and take it down after the time of putting it up.

I don't want you to upload it. I'm not asking anyone to upload the episodes.

We're simply trying to determine the copyright status.

Nobody has yet answered these questions.

Does episode 1 of season 1 contain any sort of copyright notice in the opening or ending credits? If it does, what exactly does that notice say? (I mean exactly; don't paraphrase it.)

Does episode 2 of season 1 contain any sort of copyright notice in the opening or ending credits? If it does, what exactly does that notice say? (I mean exactly; don't paraphrase it.)

Does episode 3 of season 1 contain any sort of copyright notice in the opening or ending credits? If it does, what exactly does that notice say? (I mean exactly; don't paraphrase it.)

If anybody has season 1 of Mannix, please answer these questions.

Episode 1 does not have a copyright notice in it. Yet, it's copyrighted as of 1996 for paramount. Is it PD or not.

Oh, I thought you said to go ahead on it earlier.

The question still lingers about the Mannix Episode 1, the Pilot. It is without a copyright notice. But I did see it was copyrighted in 1996 by Paramount.

Is it or is it not PD?
